The Unifying Power of Humour: How a Joke Can Bridge Any Divide

Recently, I was watching the news of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly session. The discussions were so furious and intense. Every party seemed completely divided and pitted against each other. Until... A joke was passed by one of the members. The whole assembly started cracking up. For a brief moment, they all seemed very much together. They all laughed at the exact same joke, regardless of which party member passed it. They actually looked happy together and the follow-on comments on the joke made everyone crack up again. This made me recall and analyse some circumstances in my own life to see if this was really the case. As it turns out, for the most part, it is surprisingly true. It made me realize how humour subconsciously makes us forget the status of a relationship with someone, establishes a common ground, lets us laugh and unites us. When we take things with lightness and humour, it genuinely strengthens a relationship by shifting our focus entirely to the joke and forces us...

The Necessity of Breaking What You Built

Image
Sometimes, it is absolutely necessary to wreck the same house you built with your own hands, to rule out the blueprint you developed weeks sketching, to reject the design you squeezed your brain creating, or in the worst case, to abandon the same kid you spent years yearning to see in your hands. And how does that make you feel? Most importantly, what drives you to make a decision like that? Maybe the house can no longer suffice your needs. Maybe the blueprint turned impractical in reality. Maybe the design is no longer up to the standards. Or maybe, the kid has gone rogue. Whatever the reason, the break becomes an absolute necessity, and eventually, it has to be done. It cannot be avoided or delayed. Either the creation is no longer of any use to you, doesn't serve its purpose, or it causes greater harm to you. Encountering a situation like this is normal in any creator's life. I feel everyone must be mentally prepared and mature enough to face it and let go of our creati...

Is Toxic Management a Failure or a Feature?

A good administration apparently needs a toxic management. I've been a part of schools, college, tuitions, hostels, workplaces and a few other institutions. And the one thing that I've seen common among all of them is the management that is either unethical, toxic or just... bitter. Initially, I had only been against such a system and had even fought against it. But in the recent times, I've started to calm myself down. Not because I've become fed up trying to fight it or that I've learnt to live with it. But because I've started wondering if such a system is essential to run an administration effectively. Because to a point, I just kept thinking that the management are simply corrupt. But when I hear my peers sharing similar experiences in their respective institutions, I started wondering if it could actually be necessary. It might be so because when I recalled all the institutions I've been in so far, I found yet another common thing among all of them. Gu...

Why Being Carefree As A Cow Makes Your Life Easy

Image
Not gonna lie, I used to feel jealous of cows, seeing them roaming so calm and carefree. But gladly, not anymore... Lately, my perspective on life and how I approach it has become more liberal, and I've become as carefree as a cow myself. Earlier, I had been a guy who cared about anything and everything. I was so obsessed with how I'm perceived and what others think of me, my career, the outcomes and everything. I was super concerned, sensitive, insecure and stressed out. I was walking on eggshells all the time. It made my life complicated and miserable. And now... I started seeing life from a bird's eye view and remember how small we are and how little our lives are, I remind myself how every incident or outcome is meaningful and a lesson, I remind myself that others don't care about us as much as we do, or as we think they do. I let people troll me and laugh at me, I watch sitcoms. Not just for fun, but to realise the reality of how simple our lives are when it is app...

Is Necessity a Luxury?

Image
I smiled with joy like a baby receiving chocolate, when I turned the shower on and experienced a good flow of water in my new hostel. I've been a bachelor for almost 4 years now, and I came across a lot of residential spaces during this period. But this is the first time I'm experiencing such a thing. Initially, I was fascinated, but later, I came to the realization that it might not be something beyond what we paid for, but only what we are supposed to get. Forget the shower. We had access to hygienic drinking water and food, a clean surrounding, sufficient provision of every amenity with thoughtful planning to make it comfortable and convenient for us without much hassle, and most importantly, immediate and responsive service to every concern we raised. If anyone had ever told me that there's such a living space at an affordable price, I would never have believed it. Because we got accustomed to experiencing even the normal standard of living as a luxury. No, I'm not ...

The Creativity Overdose

Image
Have you ever felt so restless - mentally - that you constantly keep thinking, analysing, questioning and creating something? Can't sit idle, Can't focus on one thing, Can't have a personal life, Can't sleep peacefully, And feel completely restless... I was yesterday years old when I realized that this phenomenon is called the Curse of Creativity. Creativity is one thing that I've always admired when I see people creating something out of nowhere. I had always wished to be one of them, seeing it from far and thinking it is purely a blessing. But lately, as I myself have become more involved in it and started using it like a drug, it has become a second nature to me and it keeps my brain working non-stop leaving me restless. And what I've realized now is how draining or overwhelming it can be. I can see that too much of anything is good for nothing and that I've clearly overdosed. When you think that's all, there comes a fuel to the fire - the curse of pe...

Pause & Reflect - You are much more than what you do in your Job

Have you ever wondered if what you do in your job is all that you are? Or all that you can do? If yes, you've come to the right post. Lately, I've been asking myself the same questions and it took a while for me to pause, reflect, and realize that we are much more than what we do daily. Realizing it not only adds clarity but also sets us free from being yet another rat . I know how easy it is to get carried away by our daily tasks, meeting deadlines, and all. But it is crucial to pause and reflect because we all have a unique talent. In nature, an artist can’t play sports like a sportsperson, and a sportsperson can’t paint like an artist. I always admire that speciality of nature. It is why I want you to bring your real potential to effect and become more of who you really are and do what more you can do instead of just doing what you do daily. Some of you might be really into your job as it might be the one that you always wanted to do. And, some others have their interests ov...

"Purpose" itself is Purposeless

The other day when I gave a thought about what I've been doing for a month where I didn't even sigh in between, I wondered. I got stuck, I got confused, and I went blank... The entire perspective of life collapsed in my head. It STARTED with the thoughts about my employment. Yes, I got employed recently placing the first step on my career ladder. It has barely been a month and I haven't even received my first paycheck yet. And, I'm not gonna lie - I'm really passionate about what I've been doing. I love the workplace, my colleagues, and the atmosphere. It is so great and I'm truly grateful to have such a calm, positive, and friendly environment. Because I hardly see people finding their jobs pleasing. So, I'm really grateful for it. But... When I gave a thought about what the purpose of running this way is... I realized that it is always the compensation or profit. And, extending my thoughts further took me to a scenario where I'll start earning mone...

Workspace AI - More of a BANE than a BOON?

Though the conversation on AI whether it is good or bad has become cliché lately, I still am writing this article because I've been seeing its effects so clearly everyday right in front of me in my workplace, where my colleagues and I are highly dependent on AI. It is pathetic to see ourself turning towards AI whenever some task is assigned to us. The fact of us not even consider thinking ourself and jumping on it right away really makes me worried. Of course, AI makes our work efficient and saves more time by helping us with our mundane repetitive tasks. I really appreciate that automation aspect of AI. But what I want to discuss here is the AI chatbots which jump in as a search engine, teacher, or even a mentor. That's good and great. But I feel that it is also time to look at what it takes away from us - our creativity. Yes, the one that makes us unique and also powered our civilization. But now... it is coming to an end... You can think that the AI can be creative, think o...

Where to find Love?

Why am I not in love they ask. Jeez! how come that question?! Because I AM in love, pals. In fact with three people.  I am in love with three people. I am getting the love from three people, not just one. And, I also have sufficient and abundant love for them indeed. And here, I don't even have to remind them every time that I love them and that I'll always be there for them. This love is undoubtable and inseparable. Also, we don't need any exotic vacation to be joyful. Being with each other itself heals and pleases us very well. We also make fun, travel, explore and enjoy but it doesn't be the reason for making our love last.  Those three people are my father, mother and sibling which is my family.  The thing I'm trying to say here is that most of us only take family love for granted. Even the ones who love them don't really ADORE them. Then, we go searching for some stranger and demand love from them. Even I was in the same kind of situation during my teenage ...

Misleading Lust

Rape, incest, sexual abuse, and a lot more dirty stuff are on a verge of growth now. Do you know why it is so? A major reason for all this dumb shit is imposing seductive content in everyday stuff. Seductive content namely porn has dominated every platform now. The whole media is getting dirty now and in fact, it already had got dirty. Wherever we see, it is there.  People like advertisers who want to promote their business know the fact that the whole world is a fool for lust, which is a key essential for every branding now. So, they use lust as a tool to hook people up with it to make profits. Understanding the human psychology, they impose such content everywhere which also includes the serials which have a family audience. Their such greed for profit is what makes people desperate over porn addiction which then misleads them and tempts them to make immoral deeds. Porn has ruined a lot of young minds that they couldn't even differentiate between sex and porn.  Porn is nothi...

LGBT's T for ?

Like men getting attracted to women and women getting attracted to men, getting attracted to the same sex and both sexes are perfectly natural. Such people are not cheap just because they are in the minority. They also deserve equal rights and respect in society. They don't have to demand it but it doesn't seem like they get it, especially the transgenders. In most cases, they are only disrespected and disdained which is stupid and inhumane. So, in this blog, let me talk about them exclusively.  First of all, we have to understand that they are no less to others and start viewing them as part of our society and respect them because they deserve every right in society which undoubtedly includes employment also. Neither the government nor the people should marginalize them and refuse their right to employment and education. Only the refusal of their opportunities makes them come begging to us at our doorsteps. And when they come in such a way, most of us don't even give a hea...

Activists who?

In this cruel world, waking relaxed the next day is not that tough if you are the kind of person who cares for his/her own ass, i.e) If you live a life caring only about your own family, well! you are safe. You got no enemies or problems but b eing an activist is not such a piece of cake. Activists are the ones who raise their voices for justice. They are the ones who wish to uplift everyone but they are also the ones who are intimidated, tortured and murdered. T hey put their blood-related family at risk to help all other families. And s ome of them can't even breathe a single breath stress-free. Every second goes with chaos what happens to their family in the next minute, as their voice is mostly against a higher power. F rom history to movies, we have seen everywhere that the authorities murder such distractors(activists) mercilessly. That is why I have written this blog intending to pay tribute to all such activists who fight for justice despite jeopardizing themselves. I wi...

Tips for a Better School

If you are about to start a school, consider the following tips for effective results. I hope these will make your students and their education better although they are only abstract so far.  • First and foremost, consider educational institutions a social work, not a business. • In case you are about to follow the system of some renowned schools, don't follow the system which gives better marks, follow the one which moulds better students. • Make no divisions based on caste, religion, community or race on certificates as well as in person. Avoid all kinds of divisions. • With a good education, good hygiene and more, provide your best. Use the revenue to fulfil students, not to fill your filthy hands. • Hire experienced and mature teachers. • While keeping an eye on the students, monitor the teachers too. • Always be open to the parents' opinions. Thus, there will also be a mutual understanding between the management and the parents. Moreover, the parents will feel an emotional...

Tips for a Healthy Relationship

First of all, kindly ensure that you are fit for a relationship, as it is a commitment. Only if you are fit for it, you can proceed or else you would face a hard time. • Be the true YOU, don't pretend: True colors are always vibrant. They are tough to conceal. So, better be who you truly are from the very first moment. • Expectation kills: Never expect the fallacies that you get inspired by the movies because this is reality. Also, don't expect everything from one. It is impossible because everything can never be one. We all lack some. • Everything becomes normal: Realize that everyone is awesome till we know more about them. Realize that all the butterflies flying in your stomach gradually age up. So, be aware that everything gets normal eventually. • A part, not an option: Consider your partner a part of your life like your Dad and Mom, not as an option. If you go looking for 'The Best', you will only get fed up, not fulfilled. • Respect and Prioritize: A lack of resp...

Which Race is the Beauty?

We live in a world where people are stated beautiful just by considering the majority's preference. It is like a democracy where the most votes win. Like the losing parties are not dumb, the minority's preference is not ugly. The dark-skinned people must remember that there is nothing they have to feel ashamed of personally because the concept that white is beautiful is just a stereotype. If you are dark-skinned, listen to this, I'm telling this to you. You need not feel inferior just because you have dark skin. You gotta realize that people are not mature enough to use the phrase "This is not my preference." instead of using "This is not good." If that phrase was used, not only racism but also most discrimination could have been tackled so early. And, racism is actually a stupid thought. It is not the discrimination against a race, it is against one's preference. The reason it is this way is that people don't respect others' preferences. If ...

None is a Fool

These days, The word 'fool' is used in a lot of ways but the common one among them is to describe someone as the one who knows nothing. But the fact is that no one is a fool. Remarking someone as a fool just because you have not seen their talent is like looking for stars at noon and saying, "I see none. So, there would be none." Sounds crazy, right? But this is how our people are marked as fools and brilliant. Instead of accepting the fact that everyone does know something and does not know something, we call someone a fool when we spot them unfamiliar with our stuff. For example, if someone is unfamiliar with the politics that we keep bitching, we call them a fool. But if we do not know how to cook like them, we do not take on the same fool grade on our shoulders because our ego won't let us be down. We deny the truth and speak all trash to make the opponent's skill shit and brag about the stuff we know. Often, this is seen with people with fair English kno...

10 Tips to Overcome the so-called Depression

No yada yada intro or motivation message here, only ten tips to overcome depression. The following methods are the ones that helped me during my dark days and I hope it will help you too. They are:  1. Stop checking out everyone's social media profile, post, story and status because it makes you compare your lives and feel bad about yourself. Then, you will no longer feel the worth of you and what you possess and you will always try to win a futile race.  2. Take a nap: A sleep helps you refresh very effectively. It stops you from constantly overthinking the issue and also helps you to come up with a solution to solve it.  3. Meditate or spend time with nature in silence: Practice daily meditation. At first, you will feel nothing but eventually, you will realize how powerful it is and you will become mentally strong. So, be consistent.  4. Exercise daily: Give some physical works to your body. Regular workout can boost your self-confidence by which you will gain a po...

Is Nudity Sacred or Obscene?

Is Nudity Sacred or Obscene? Why is it a taboo? Why do some consider it sacred? Why do some consider it obscene? Let me answer all these questions in this blog, which are my humble opinions.  Disclaimer: This blog is not intended to hurt anyone's feelings or disgrace anyone's ideologies.  First of all, Let me tell you the reason behind writing this blog. Recently, I have watched a movie in which a girl whose nude scene from bathroom was shot committed suicide. And when I thought about the reason behind this obsession of people over being caught nude, I realized that most of us consider nudity so sacred in our culture. But in my opinion, Nudity is not something so sacred. It's just us humans in our true form. And the thing that we see behind people's clothes is just some flesh covering their bones. It's just our perspective by which we consider it sacred, taboo, obscene, etc.  The reason why people consider nudity taboo is that they act like they shouldn't know w...

Coin Flip

Image
Every single coin has two sides. Likewise, there is always one CAN and one CAN'T. Something that we CAN and something that we CAN'T. Some of the CAN'Ts are regulating pollution, natural resources exploitation and global warming. And some of the CANs are sharing love, respecting everyone, being a valuable human being, helping others, feeding the needy, etc. See? There are a lot of possibilities with the CAN than the CAN'T. And, I'm completely aware of the fact that the CAN'Ts can be made possible but when compared, the CANs are much easier than the CAN'Ts. They are easy-peasy. So, why don't we make those CANs happen? Everyone loves to be cared for, everyone loves to be respected and treated well. So, why don't we make that happen? Let's just make them - Let us learn to be down to earth, let us start to be compassionate and helpful to each other, let us learn to look at the positives of people and love them by letting the negatives get stamped beh...
